Old Wives’ Remedies

The household handbook

Terms of use

These terms are written in plain language to match what the site does. They have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and the governing law for disputes has not been settled.

What this site is

Old Wives’ Remedies is a reference handbook of prepared household entries. Visitors can read every page and use “Suggest a remedy” to send an idea for the editors to look at; there are no visitor accounts, no purchases and no newsletter. You may read and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Using the information

The content is general information, not professional advice — see the disclaimer, which forms part of these terms. You are responsible for deciding whether anything here is appropriate for your circumstances, your household, your materials or your animals, and for following manufacturers’, care-label, food-safety and professional guidance.

Accuracy and changes

Entries are written from sources checked on the dates shown. Guidance changes, and pages may be corrected, rewritten or removed at any time. We do not promise that the site will always be available or error-free.

Content and third parties

The written entries, illustrations and design are the site’s own work. Quoted or summarised material remains the property of the organisation that published it, and those organisations are not affiliated with this site. Please do not republish entries wholesale; short quotations with a link are welcome.

Limits of responsibility

The site is provided as it is. We take reasonable care with the content but cannot accept responsibility for how information is applied in your own circumstances. Nothing in these terms removes or limits any rights you have under the law that applies to you, and nothing here is intended to exclude responsibility where the law does not allow it.

Still to be settled

  • The publishing entity and its address. In the meantime, corrections and questions can be sent to info@oldwivesremedies.com.
  • Governing law and the jurisdiction for disputes.
  • Professional review of health, skin and pet entries, and legal review of these terms.
